## What Accruer does

Prepaid insurance, deferred revenue, fixed asset depreciation and payroll accruals are the entries that keep a QuickBooks Online close open after everything else has been reconciled. Accruer exists to remove them. A bookkeeper marks a bill or an invoice with the period it covers, and the app calculates the amortization or deferral, posts the journal entries into QuickBooks Online on the right dates, and maintains a reconciliation schedule that ties the balance sheet account back to the individual items behind it. Prior period adjustments are absorbed rather than requiring a hand-built catch-up entry, and the schedule exports in a form meant to be handed to an auditor without being rebuilt in Excel first.

The firms this suits run recurring monthly books for clients whose ledgers carry annual contracts, software subscriptions, insurance policies, prepaid rent or deferred service revenue. Pricing is per connected QuickBooks Online file rather than per seat: $29 a month for up to ten automated entries, $99 for up to fifty, $199 for unlimited. Tiers can be mixed across a client base, so the three clients with genuine schedules sit on Pro while everyone else stays on Lite. FinOptimal sells Accruer alongside Booker and Wrangler, which move journal entries and reporting data between QuickBooks and Google Sheets, and the same Houston team runs a managed accounting practice on its own tools.

The limits deserve to be stated plainly. Accruer is QuickBooks Online only, and FinOptimal's own product page describes support for other systems as a possibility rather than a roadmap, so a firm with Xero, Sage Intacct or NetSuite clients gets nothing from it. It is also not a close manager. There is no checklist, no preparer and reviewer sign-off, no flux analysis and no bank reconciliation, so it slots into a close process rather than running one. Per-file pricing compounds quickly: forty clients on the Pro tier is roughly $3,960 a month. FinOptimal publishes no security page and makes no SOC 2 claim anywhere on its site, which matters for an application holding write access to client general ledgers.

Set against Numeric, a full close platform with checklists, materiality-based reconciliations and variance analysis, Accruer is a single-purpose utility that happens to do its one job cheaply. Set against Truewind, which goes after the whole bookkeeping motion, it is narrower again. The honest comparison is not with either of them but with the spreadsheet the firm keeps today.

We inherited Accruer as a top pick and moved it to a strong option. The reason is scope rather than quality. A QuickBooks-only accrual scheduler with no checklist, no reviewer workflow and no published security posture is not where a firm should start building a month-end close, and the source list that supplied the tier had it filed under miscellaneous rather than close automation. As the answer to the specific schedules that eat the most time in a QuickBooks close, at a price a firm can approve without a meeting, it is a good one.

## What it costs and what it connects to

Accruer starts at $29 per QuickBooks file/month (Lite $29 up to 10 automated entries, Pro $99 up to 50, Unlimited $199; tiers can be mixed across clients). Pricing is per connected QuickBooks Online file, per month, tiered by entry volume.

We could not confirm a SOC 2 report for Accruer from public sources. Ask the vendor directly before it touches client data — an absence here means unverified, not absent.

Accruer connects to QuickBooks Online, which is the integration that decides whether a tool fits a firm's existing book of clients.

Beyond that: Google Sheets.

## Why we rate Accruer a Strong Option

Accruer is rated Strong Option, alongside 5 other of the 11 month-end close automation tools in this directory.

A credible choice that wins on a specific fit rather than across the board — a price point, a niche, a workflow, or an integration the top picks do not cover as well.
