The read

## What Rillet does

Two years old and already carrying more than $200 million in funding from Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz and ICONIQ, Rillet is an attempt to rebuild mid-market ERP around a general ledger that posts continuously rather than in a monthly batch. The pitch is a close that is finished when the period ends. Revenue recognition under ASC 606 runs off the contract data rather than a spreadsheet, consolidation and intercompany eliminations happen across entities in the same system, and a set of AI agents branded Aura drafts entries and reconciliations. The security page is specific about the guardrail on that last part: every AI action is logged, and nothing posts without a human approving it.

For a firm, the fit is narrow and worth naming precisely. Rillet's published customers are venture-backed and private-equity-backed companies, several of them controllers at SaaS businesses, with one described as a public company. Big Four and national firms including KPMG, Armanino and Connor appear as implementation partners. If your practice has clients that raised a Series B, have deferred revenue schedules that no longer fit in Excel, and are being asked for audit-ready statements, this is a credible destination. If your book is restaurants, contractors, dental practices and 1120-S filers, none of this applies and the price alone will end the conversation.

The trade-offs are structural rather than cosmetic. Rillet publishes no pricing at all, so every deal starts with a sales call and a scoping exercise, and implementations run about six weeks with a CPA-led team. There is no accountant console for a book of a hundred client files, no wholesale billing, no partner discount that a firm passes through. The client owns the subscription and the firm participates as a referral or implementation partner earning commission, which is a different commercial relationship from the one a QuickBooks or Xero practice is used to. The company itself is young: founded in 2024, so it has been through two busy seasons, and long-run support depth is not yet something anyone can attest to.

Against Sage Intacct, the incumbent answer for a growing SaaS company, Rillet is betting on faster implementation and less configuration debt. Against NetSuite it is betting that most mid-market companies were never going to use the majority of what NetSuite does. SoftLedger competes on similar multi-entity ground at a published $13,500 a year, which at least lets a firm size the spend before a demo.

The tier moved down from top-pick to strong-option. The evidence is not against the product. SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 reports audited annually, more than 600 customers, and named national-firm partners are all real signals. It moves because top-pick in this directory means where a US firm of two to fifty would start for its clients, and a quote-only ERP with a six-week implementation and no practice console is not where anyone starts. It earns strong-option on a specific fit: the client that has genuinely outgrown a small business ledger.

Our rating

## Why we rate Rillet a Strong Option

Rillet is rated Strong Option, alongside 9 other of the 26 general ledger & bookkeeping tools in this directory.

A credible choice that wins on a specific fit rather than across the board — a price point, a niche, a workflow, or an integration the top picks do not cover as well.
