## What Acounta does

Established in 2021, Acounta sells one plan with everything switched on, which is the clearest thing about it. There are no feature tiers to compare and no per-module add-ons: a firm pays $65 a month for the first user and $45 for each one after that, or $540 per user per year on annual billing, and gets the CRM, the workflow builder, document management, unlimited e-signature, the client portal, invoicing, scheduling, time tracking and the mobile apps. A 15-day trial runs before the card is charged. For a two-person EA practice comparing quotes where the portal costs extra here and e-signature is metered there, that simplicity is worth something on its own.

Day to day it behaves like the other small-firm all-in-ones. Clients land in a CRM dashboard, work moves through stages a firm defines, documents are requested through a branded portal and signed with automatic field placement, and invoices go out from the same record. Acounta leans on AI for document tagging and data entry, and publishes claims about time saved that a buyer should treat as marketing rather than benchmark.

The gaps matter more than the features. Acounta names five integrations, and they are Google, Microsoft, Gmail, Zoom and QuickBooks. There is no tax software connection at all, so returns, extensions and e-file status live outside the system and get tracked by hand. More seriously for a firm handling taxpayer data, the site publishes nothing about security: no SOC 2 report, no statement on encryption, no documented multi-factor authentication, no hosting or data residency disclosure. That is not evidence of a problem, but a firm signing a WISP under IRS Publication 4557 has to ask the vendor directly and get answers in writing before moving client records in.

Set against Financial Cents or TaxDome, Acounta is younger, cheaper on paper and much thinner on proof. TaxDome brings tax software integrations, KBA e-signature for IRS-regulated documents and a large installed base of US preparers. Financial Cents brings a deeper library of prebuilt workflows and a QuickBooks Online client sync. Acounta's counterargument is the single flat plan and a per-seat price that beats both once a firm gets past its first user, plus a real mobile app on both stores.

One-to-watch is the right shelf, and the tier stands. The product is real and priced sensibly, but a vendor five years old with no published security posture, no named tax integrations and no visible practitioner track record is not something to move a busy season onto. It is worth a trial in the off-season by a firm that would otherwise be stitching three subscriptions together, and worth revisiting once the compliance documentation exists.

## What it costs and what it connects to

Acounta starts at $45 per user/month ($540 per user per year billed annually; month to month is $65 for the first user and $45 for each additional user). Pricing is per user, per month. A free trial is available: 15 days.

We could not confirm a SOC 2 report for Acounta from public sources. Ask the vendor directly before it touches client data — an absence here means unverified, not absent.

Acounta connects to QuickBooks, which is the integration that decides whether a tool fits a firm's existing book of clients.

Beyond that: Google, Microsoft, Gmail and Zoom.

Our rating

## Why we rate Acounta a One to Watch

Acounta is rated One to Watch, alongside 11 other of the 49 practice management tools in this directory.

Early or unproven at firm scale. Often genuinely interesting technology without the track record, support depth, or install base to bet a busy season on yet.
