Phil Murphy and James Kilford started Senta in Bristol in 2014, IRIS Software Group acquired it in January 2021, and it was rebranded Senta by IRIS that April. The current site carries an IRIS Elements logo and a copyright line reading 2016 to 2023, and the pricing page no longer quotes a Senta rate at all. It says the product is now incorporated into IRIS Elements Practice Management, offered at the same price. Senta is therefore best understood as a product line that has been absorbed rather than one a firm signs up for today. What it did, it did tidily. Client records carry the email and SMS threads attached to them, recurring compliance jobs run off customisable workflow templates, and a client portal handles document exchange and e-signing. Ledger connections to Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent feed anomaly alerts, and GoProposal and Zapier cover proposals and everything else. Pricing was published at GBP 32 per user per month, or GBP 23.20 on a twelve-month term, with client access free and a thirty-day trial that took no card. For a UK bookkeeping practice in 2018 that was a well-judged package. Two things make it the wrong purchase for this directory's reader. The first is geography. Senta is a UK product: prices in sterling, a Companies House orientation, ledger integrations chosen for the UK market, and nothing connecting it to Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte or ProSeries. There is no 8879 workflow, no IRS transcript retrieval, no US tax due-date logic. The second is direction. The dated copyright, the absence of a standalone price, and the redirection of the pricing page toward IRIS Elements all point the same way, and a firm evaluating today would in effect be evaluating IRIS Elements with a legacy name on the door. Nothing on the site documents SOC 2, ISO 27001, MFA or data residency, so a US firm with client-data obligations would have to obtain all of that from IRIS directly. For a UK firm, the live comparison is IRIS Elements itself, which is where the development is going, or Xero Practice Manager for a firm already on Xero. For a US firm of the size this directory serves, Karbon covers the same workflow and CRM ground with US integrations, and Financial Cents does it for less per seat. Uku is the closer analogue for a small practice that liked Senta's simplicity. Dated is the correct tier and the evidence confirms rather than moves it. The software still runs and existing clients still use it, but the product has been merged into a larger IRIS suite, the marketing site has not been refreshed in around three years, and the vendor's own pricing page sends prospects elsewhere. Add the UK-only integration set and there is no scenario in which a US firm of 2 to 50 staff should start an evaluation here.
