## What HubSync does

The scope claim here is unusually wide: engagement letter, organizer, document collection, workpapers, review, e-signature, e-file, delivery, analytics and billing, all on one platform, with an embedded AI assistant classifying files and summarising documents along the way. Gateway is the portal the client and the staff both work in, configurable by client segment so a high-net-worth individual sees something different from an operating company with fifteen entities. Tax Workpapers ingests financial data, maps accounts to form lines for 1120 and 1065 with a confidence percentage shown, handles book-to-tax adjustments with an audit trail, and runs multi-level sign-off. Batch extensions and return tracking sit alongside.

The customer list is the clearest signal about who this is for. Baker Tilly, Plante Moran, Carr Riggs and Ingram, Anchin and Baker Newman Noyes appear as customers, and the company states it powers tax automation for 40 percent of America's top 25 accounting firms. Anchin's CFO describes it as the only solution able to handle the scale and complexity required. CRI's rollout covers engagement letters, organizers and 8879 automation across a Top 50 practice. These are firms with a CIO, a tax technology team and a multi-year implementation budget.

That is the whole difficulty for this directory's reader. Nothing in the product looks unfinished, and by capability it would rate well. But a firm of eight staff filing 600 returns is not the buyer HubSync built around, and buying a platform designed for a Top 25 rollout usually means paying for governance, configuration and analytics layers that a small firm has no use for and no one to administer. No price is published anywhere, every path leads to a demo request, and the messaging addresses managing partners, tax leaders and CIOs by name.

The published detail also thins out exactly where a smaller firm would need it. The workpapers page promises one-click export to popular tax software without naming a single one, which is the first question anyone on Drake or Lacerte would ask. Gateway describes e-sign and e-file but says nothing about Form 8879 specifically, about knowledge-based authentication, or about what happens when identity proofing fails, all of which the smaller-firm vendors in this category state plainly. Security certifications are not published on the pages reviewed. Blog posts carry no dates. None of that means the answers are bad, only that they are reserved for a sales conversation.

Against SafeSend, HubSync is trying to own the whole engagement rather than the delivery step, which is a much larger commitment and a much larger integration surface. Against Soraban, it targets a firm ten times the size and does not publish tax software write-back targets. A mid-sized firm genuinely consolidating five vendors should look at it seriously; a ten-person practice almost certainly should not.

One to watch stays, and the reason is fit rather than maturity. The tier here is not a comment on whether the product works, because the case studies suggest it works at considerable scale. It reflects that a 2 to 50 staff firm cannot easily evaluate, price or staff this, and that the technical detail this directory's reader needs, on tax software targets, on 8879 authentication and on security posture, is not published.

## What it costs and what it connects to

The vendor does not publish a price for HubSync; it is quoted per firm, usually on firm size or entity count.

We could not confirm a SOC 2 report for HubSync from public sources. Ask the vendor directly before it touches client data — an absence here means unverified, not absent.

Our rating

## Why we rate HubSync a One to Watch

HubSync is rated One to Watch, alongside 12 other of the 26 tax workflow & document automation tools in this directory.

Early or unproven at firm scale. Often genuinely interesting technology without the track record, support depth, or install base to bet a busy season on yet.
