Metronome: Music tempo+beat

This widget produces a steady click at a chosen tempo, measured in beats per minute. A low number gives slow practice; raising the number speeds the click up. There is also a tap tempo option for cases where the target BPM is unknown: tapping along with a remembered rhythm lets the tool work the speed out.

The record lists guitar, piano, violin, cello, drums, flute, trumpet and ukulele among the instruments it suits, along with singing, dancing, clapping and marching. The practice method it describes is incremental: play a passage cleanly at a slow setting, nudge the tempo up a few beats, repeat until the target speed holds.

Beyond the click itself, the app is set up to answer questions about counting, time signatures, accents, rests, subdivisions, swing feel and note values.
