PetGPT quotes dog and cat insurance from US providers using four inputs: age, breed, gender and ZIP code. Results come back ranked, with monthly prices next to the terms that decide what a policy is actually worth, namely deductible, annual limit and reimbursement rate.

There is a second layer beyond price. The app can describe the health conditions a particular breed tends to develop and what treating them usually costs, which gives the coverage limits some context.

Picking a plan carries the pet's details through to the insurer's site, so the same information does not have to be typed twice. Coverage is limited to US ZIP codes.
