Who it is for
Lawyers researching authority who need every citation to resolve to a real document.
US case law, statutes and regulations with verifiable citations
Overview
CiteLaw connects to a US legal library the listing sizes at over 9.3 million court opinions, 1.6 million statutes, regulations, court rules, judges' standing orders, agency decisions and guidance, Tax Court opinions, and over 355,000 law journal articles.
The design point is retrieval over recall: every citation returned is fetched from that library, so it resolves to a real document instead of being reconstructed from memory. Searches run in plain language or as Boolean queries across jurisdictions, full text can be read, citations checked and extracted, and research saved against a matter. Community tier, documentation published.

The endpoint asks for credentials before naming anything, so nineteen is the publisher's figure. Authority search, full-text reading, citation checking and extraction, and per-matter research saving are the groupings given.
Availability
CiteLaw is listed in the Claude connectors directory only. CiteLaw has no app under the same domain in the ChatGPT directory; 392 of the 3,150 products here are on both marketplaces, and this is not one of them.
The MCP server behind a Claude connector is usually the same server a ChatGPT app would need, so the absence is a distribution decision rather than a technical one.
Claude listing
CiteLaw publishes 19 tools to Claude, deeper than 67.2% of the 1,253 Claude-listed connectors.
The median Claude-listed connector filed under Legal publishes 11, so this one runs 8 tools above its bucket's median and ranks 10th of 33 by tool count.
It falls in the 11-20 tools band, which holds 22.5% of the Claude directory.
CiteLaw publishes a remote MCP endpoint. Claude connects to it over HTTP; there is nothing to install locally.
Every connector in the Claude directory is remote, all 1,253 of them, so transport is not a differentiator there.
https://citelaw.org/api/mcp/protocol CiteLaw is community-listed in the Claude directory, the tier 770 of 1,253 connectors sit in (61.5%). It is the default for a self-published server, and says nothing either way about quality.
In the publisher's words
CiteLaw: real legal authority, inside Claude Connect Claude to a comprehensive U.S. legal library: 9.3M+ court opinions, 1.6M+ statutes, regulations, court rules, judges' standing orders, agency decisions and guidance, Tax Court opinions, and 355K+ law journal articles. Every citation Claude returns is retrieved from the library. It's real, verifiable, and linkable, not generated from memory. What Claude can do with CiteLaw connected: Search authorities. Ask a legal question in plain English and Claude searches cases, statutes, and rules across jurisdictions, or run precise Boolean/keyword queries. Read the full text. Pull an entire opinion, statute, or rule by ID, not just a snippet. Shepardize. Check whether a case is still good law: Claude finds later decisions citing it and surfaces how they treat it. Verify and extract citations. Paste a brief or citation list and Claude confirms each authority exists and what it's cited for, catching hallucinated or mismatched cites before you file. It can also pull citations from text automatically. Look up judges. Get a federal judge's role, court, and background in one query. Check corpus coverage. See how much material CiteLaw holds for a jurisdiction or authority type before you rely on it. Save your work. Save a research session or drafted document (as a Word file) to your workspace, and write notes linked to your matter. Query past notes and sessions instead of starting from scratch. Work by matter. Switch workspaces and matters mid-session so research lands in the right place. Built for attorneys, law students, and legal scholars. CiteLaw retrieves and explains the law; it is a research tool, not legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Free library access. citelaw.org

This is an independent catalogue entry compiled by Node8 from CiteLaw's public marketplace listing as it stood in August 2026. Listing facts come from the marketplaces; the comparisons against the rest of the directory and any live-endpoint measurements are Node8's. Node8 is not affiliated with CiteLaw, and inclusion here is not an endorsement.
Node8 builds MCP servers end to end: deciding which tools are worth exposing, the authentication and permission model, the review submissions, and the onboarding that gets them used. One server serves ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot.
