Lightrun

Live runtime snapshots and metrics from running applications

Listed in Claude · 14 published tools · Community-listed

Overview

What Lightrun does

Lightrun adds temporary instrumentation to applications that are already running, with no code change, rebuild, or redeploy. The connector describes bringing that into a conversation: discovering connected agents, agent pools, and tags, capturing expression values and call stacks at a chosen code location, counting how often a line executes, measuring duration between two lines, sampling custom numeric metrics, and reading raw measurement samples for closer analysis.

Runtime data stays subject to the organisation's redaction and permission rules. Authentication is either OAuth for interactive sessions or a bearer API key with developer scope for automation. Fourteen tools are published, and the prerequisites are a Lightrun server, MCP access enabled for the organisation, and agents attached to the target applications.

Who it is for

Backend engineers debugging behaviour in production or staging environments.

Tool surface

The server rejected the listing request outright, so the fourteen published tools cannot be checked, and a product that reads live production state is an unsurprising place to meet that gate.

Where Lightrun is listed

Lightrun is listed in the Claude connectors directory only. Lightrun has no app under the same domain in the ChatGPT directory; 392 of the 3,150 products here are on both marketplaces, and this is not one of them.

The MCP server behind a Claude connector is usually the same server a ChatGPT app would need, so the absence is a distribution decision rather than a technical one.

Claude listing

In the Claude connectors directory

Lightrun publishes 14 tools to Claude. That is a mid-sized surface: 56.6% of the 1,253 Claude-listed connectors expose fewer.

The median Claude-listed connector filed under Developer Tools publishes 13, so this one runs one tool above its bucket's median and ranks 47th of 95 by tool count.

It falls in the 11-20 tools band, which holds 22.5% of the Claude directory.

Lightrun publishes a remote MCP endpoint. Claude connects to it over HTTP; there is nothing to install locally.

Every connector in the Claude directory is remote, all 1,253 of them, so transport is not a differentiator there.

In the publisher's words

How Lightrun describes it

Lightrun MCP connects your AI assistant to real runtime data from applications already running in production, staging, or development. Built on the Model Context Protocol, it lets Claude investigate live code behavior on your behalf—without changing code, rebuilding, or redeploying. **What you can do** - Discover connected agents, agent pools, and tags in your environment - Capture expression values and call stacks at specific code locations (snapshots) - Count how often a line executes - Measure execution duration between two lines (TicToc) - Sample custom numeric metrics from live code - Drill into raw measurement samples for deeper analysis **Why use it** Lightrun brings production-safe, on-demand observability into natural-language workflows. Instead of configuring probes manually, describe what you need and let the AI discover targets, place temporary instrumentation, and analyze results. Runtime data is subject to your organization’s PII redaction and permission rules. **How it works** Your AI assistant acts as an MCP client and connects to your Lightrun server at `/mcp`. The Lightrun MCP server translates requests into safe runtime inspections executed by Lightrun agents attached to your applications. **Authentication** - OAuth for interactive use (sign in with your Lightrun user) - API key (Bearer token with Dev scope) for agents and automation **Works great with Lightrun AI Skills** Pair this connector with reusable investigation workflows from the Lightrun AI repository—preflight checks, evidence collection, diagnosis, and handoff output for live runtime debugging. **Requirements** - A Lightrun account and server (SaaS: https://app.lightrun.com) - MCP access enabled for your organization - Lightrun agents connected to the applications you want to inspect

This is an independent catalogue entry compiled by Node8 from Lightrun's public marketplace listing as it stood in August 2026. Listing facts come from the marketplaces; the comparisons against the rest of the directory and any live-endpoint measurements are Node8's. Node8 is not affiliated with Lightrun, and inclusion here is not an endorsement.
