The read
What Abacor does
The pitch here is not transcription, it is what happens on either side of the call. Abacor generates a prep brief before a client meeting from everything the firm has previously discussed with that client, joins the Zoom, Meet or Teams call (or records an in-person meeting), and afterwards drafts the follow-up email and pushes notes and action items into the firm's practice management system. An assistant called Ask Abacor answers questions across the whole book with citations back to the calls the answer came from, and a revenue finder flags up-sell language clients used without being asked.
The write-back list is the reason a firm would pick this over a general notetaker. Abacor connects to Karbon, Financial Cents, FYI, Xero Practice Manager and Double on the practice management side, Ignition, Anchor and Filed for proposals and billing, and Gmail, Outlook and the three main conferencing platforms. It also ships an MCP server, so meetings, contacts and action items can be queried directly from Claude or ChatGPT rather than through the Abacor interface. The vendor's own demo form asks which practice management system the firm runs, listing Aiwyn, Canopy, Financial Cents, FYI, IRIS, Karbon, Double, TaxDome and Xero Practice Manager, which is a fair map of who it expects to sell to.
On the questions a firm should actually ask before putting client audio through a young vendor, Abacor is unusually forthcoming. Its trust centre records ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type II compliance and names its subprocessors, including OpenAI and Anthropic. The terms state plainly that customer data is not used to train generalised models available to other customers unless the firm opts in in writing, and the retention section commits to deleting recordings and transcripts within 30 to 90 days of account deletion with backups purged inside 90 days. Recording consent is pushed back onto the firm: the terms make the customer solely responsible for one-party and all-party consent law, and for indemnifying Abacor if that goes wrong. Data residency is offered in the US and Australia.
Two real gaps. There is no published price. The site has no pricing page at all, everything routes to a demo, and a small firm that wants to compare a per-seat cost against Ping's $28 to $72 per user has nothing to work with. And the practice management list, broad as it is, has no TaxDome and no Canopy, which between them cover a large share of US firms under 30 staff. Tax-season workflow tools like Drake, UltraTax and Lacerte are absent entirely, which is consistent with the advisory positioning but limits it to CAS work.
Compared with Ping, the other US-built assistant here, Abacor has the wider practice management and telephony integration list and the stronger published security posture, while Ping publishes its prices and reaches further into email triage and firm-level oversight. Against Vinyl and Brieff, both built around the Xero and Karbon world, Abacor is the one headquartered in the US with US data residency. Top-pick stands: a company founded in 2024 that already carries SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, ships integrations monthly on a dated public blog, and names real US firms on its site is about as proven as this young category gets.
