The read
What Socket does
Modularity is what distinguishes Socket from the rest of this category. The core membership is priced on active clients and buys unlimited users, unlimited proposals and renewals, branded proposals with e-signature, customisable engagement letters and price monitoring. Everything beyond that is a separate line: Pro Features, Socket Engage, Socket Leads, Socket Forms and TaxScout each add somewhere between £5 and £75 a month depending on the client band. A twenty-client practice on the Starter tier pays £10 a month for the core, which is the lowest entry price in this category by a wide margin, and can add only the pieces it uses.
The product spans further along the client lifecycle than a pure proposal tool. Discovery and pricing lead into a proposal with itemised scope, the engagement letter is embedded in the same document so it is signed at the same moment, and onboarding forms then collect client data, documents and AML checks. A price monitoring module watches for scope creep, expiring engagements and clients whose fee has drifted below what the work costs, which is the same concern Scopekeeper approaches from the email side. Billing is automated through Xero rather than collected by Socket itself, so this sits on the signature side of the category rather than the payments side, and there is no card or ACH rate to compare.
For a US firm the caveats are structural rather than fixable by a settings change. Pricing is in sterling and excludes VAT. The deep integration is Xero, with no QuickBooks Online connection named and no US tax software. The practice management systems it lists are Xero Practice Manager, Karbon, Pixie, Senta and similar, a UK and Australasian set. All customer data is stored exclusively in EU regions, which is a genuine problem for a firm with a US data residency requirement in its own client agreements. The awards it cites are UK, Canadian and Irish Practice App of the Year, including the Xero Global App Awards in 2026, and the US does not appear. Two-factor authentication is enforced on every account, but no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification is stated on the security page, which directs enquiries to an email address instead.
GoProposal is the obvious comparison, another UK-first pricing-and-proposal product with an AML add-on, and the choice between them comes down to whether a firm prefers GoProposal's pricing-methodology discipline or Socket's broader onboarding and monitoring reach at a lower core price. Against Ignition, Socket does not collect the money, which is either the point or the disqualifier depending on the firm.
One to watch is kept, and the reason is geography rather than quality. Socket is clearly an established product with a maintained roadmap, a founding team out of Xavier Analytics, published pricing and current awards. For a firm in the UK it would rate higher. For a US firm of 2 to 50 staff, a Xero-only ledger integration, EU-only data storage and sterling pricing put it in the interesting-but-unproven column.

What it costs and what it connects to
Socket starts at GBP 10 per month (billed annually and excluding VAT; core membership is £10 for 20 clients, £25 for 100, £50 for 500 and £150 for 1,500, with Pro Features, Engage, Leads, Forms and TaxScout each adding £5 to £75 a month). Pricing is per firm, per month, banded by active client count, plus optional modules. A free trial is available: 14 days, no card.
We could not confirm a SOC 2 report for Socket from public sources, multi-factor authentication is available. Ask the vendor directly before it touches client data — an absence here means unverified, not absent.
Socket connects to Xero, which is the integration that decides whether a tool fits a firm's existing book of clients.
Beyond that: Xero Practice Manager, Karbon, Pixie, Senta and Vinyl.
Our rating
Why we rate Socket a One to Watch
Socket is rated One to Watch, alongside 3 other of the 9 proposals & engagement letters tools in this directory.
Early or unproven at firm scale. Often genuinely interesting technology without the track record, support depth, or install base to bet a busy season on yet.
