What Pascal Workflow does
Very few practice management products for accountants have a genuine free tier, and Pascal is one of them. Up to five team members and 250 contact records cost nothing, with no card required, and that free plan is not a crippled demo: it includes the CRM, unlimited projects, document management organised by tax year, the client portal, unlimited storage subject to fair use, and the email inbox module. That last piece is the most distinctive thing here. Pascal pulls client email into a triage queue inside the application, auto-uploads attachments with a 365-day lookback, lets a preparer reply without leaving the record, and lets one person assign a client thread to a colleague so it lands in their queue. Paid features sit on top: e-signature for Form 8879 with knowledge-based authentication billed from $1 per signer, proposals and engagement letters, automated follow-up on missing client information, recurring billing through Stripe or Authorize.net, and a marketing module that chains compliance work to review requests.
The Unlimited plan is $45 per team member per month, billed monthly with no annual contract, and it removes the user and contact caps while folding in e-sign, proposals and unlimited client requests. For a two to eight person tax practice that mainly needs a place to see what is outstanding, chase documents and get 8879s signed, that is priced sensibly against TaxDome and Canopy.
Where it falls down is everything around the product. There is no integration with any general ledger or any tax preparation software named on the site, which for a 1040 shop means data entry twice. ACH on recurring billing is listed as coming soon. The webinars page says "Coming Soon" with nothing on it. Most seriously for a product that stores signed 8879s and client tax documents, there is no security page, no SOC 2 statement, and no published information about hosting or encryption anywhere reachable from the site. A firm with an FTC Safeguards obligation has to get that in writing from the vendor before it can put a client file in here.
Financial Cents is the closest comparison on price and audience, and it wins on the QuickBooks Online sync and a much larger template library. Jetpack Workflow is narrower, being workflow and recurring job tracking without the CRM or portal, but it is clearer about what it is. Aero Workflow suits a bookkeeping firm that wants procedures attached to tasks. TaxDome costs several times more per seat and gives back a document management and client experience Pascal does not attempt. Nobody else in this group gives away five seats.
Dated is kept, though not comfortably. The free tier is a real reason a solo preparer might still choose Pascal, which pulls toward a higher rating. What holds it here is the absence of the signals that would justify one: no changelog, no customer stories, no security documentation, placeholder pages in the navigation, and a feature roadmap communicated only as "coming soon". The product works and is still sold. What could not be established is whether anyone is actively building it.

What it costs and what it connects to
Pascal Workflow has a free tier. Pricing is per team member, per month. A free trial is available: Free plan, no credit card.
We could not confirm a SOC 2 report for Pascal Workflow from public sources. Ask the vendor directly before it touches client data — an absence here means unverified, not absent.
Pascal Workflow does not integrate directly with a general ledger.
Beyond that: Stripe, Authorize.net and Google Reviews.
Our rating
Why we rate Pascal Workflow a Dated
Pascal Workflow is rated Dated: it is one of 18 of the 49 practice management tools here that still works but is no longer keeping pace.
Still sold and still working, but no longer keeping pace — thin investment, an aging interface, or a roadmap that has visibly stalled. Fine to stay on, hard to recommend adopting.
