Search ClinicalTrials.gov by condition, sponsor, investigator or eligibility
Overview
ClinicalTrials.gov is the NIH and NLM registry where FDA regulated studies are posted, and this Anthropic built connector queries it without any credential. The primary call is a general trial search, with full record retrieval by NCT identifier behind it. Three specialised searches narrow from different directions: by sponsoring company or organisation, by principal investigator and research site within a therapeutic area, and by patient eligibility criteria, which is the one that supports matching a specific person to open studies. A sixth call analyses primary and secondary outcome measures across trials, a question that otherwise means reading protocol documents one at a time.

Six read tools over one registry, and the design is one search per access pattern, sponsor, investigator and eligibility, plus detail retrieval and endpoint analysis, rather than a single parameterised query.
Availability
Clinical Trials is listed in the Claude connectors directory only. Anthropic has no app under the same domain in the ChatGPT directory; 392 of the 3,150 products here are on both marketplaces, and this is not one of them.
The MCP server behind a Claude connector is usually the same server a ChatGPT app would need, so the absence is a distribution decision rather than a technical one.
Claude listing
Clinical Trials publishes 6 tools to Claude. That is a mid-sized surface: 28.1% of the 1,253 Claude-listed connectors expose fewer.
That is exactly the median for Claude-listed connectors under Healthcare & Life Sciences, where 51 publish counts and 6 is the middle of the distribution.
It falls in the 4-6 tools band, which holds 16.2% of the Claude directory.
A direct call to the endpoint returned 6 tools, matching the 6 the listing publishes. Probed 2026-08-07.

Every connector in the Claude directory is remote, all 1,253 of them, so transport is not a differentiator there.
https://hcls.mcp.claude.com/clinical_trials/mcp Clinical Trials is one of only 9 connectors in the entire Claude directory built by Anthropic itself, 0.7% of the 1,253 listings. Everything else is published by a third party.
In the publisher's words
The Clinical Trials Connector gives Claude access to ClinicalTrials.gov, the NIH/NLM registry of FDA-regulated clinical studies conducted worldwide.
Quoted from the connector's own Claude directory listing as captured in August 2026. Node8 did not write it and does not vouch for it.

This is an independent catalogue entry compiled by Node8 from Clinical Trials's public marketplace listing as it stood in August 2026. Listing facts come from the marketplaces; the comparisons against the rest of the directory and any live-endpoint measurements are Node8's. Node8 is not affiliated with Anthropic, and inclusion here is not an endorsement.
Node8 builds MCP servers end to end: deciding which tools are worth exposing, the authentication and permission model, the review submissions, and the onboarding that gets them used. One server serves ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot.
