The read

What IRS Solutions does

David and Suzanne Stone built this in 2011 because their own resolution practice in Valencia, California could not buy what it needed, and the product still reads that way. The centre of it is the transcript pull and what gets done with the result. Transcripts download automatically, the software parses them, and the output is a summary of collection alternatives showing the installment agreement figure, the lump-sum and periodic offer amounts, and whether currently not collectible is in range. Around that sit an income versus transcript discrepancy report, a wage and income summary, a first-time penalty abatement review, a bankruptcy dischargeability and tolling calculator, and a CSED calculator that shows the assessment events and each tolling extender separately rather than printing one date and asking the preparer to trust it.

The distinguishing feature is that monitoring is included rather than sold separately. IRS Advance Notice checks the IRS system weekly, with manual pulls available in between, and flags impending exams, federal tax lien filings, installment agreement changes, offer in compromise activity, passport certification to the State Department, and 2848 or 8821 approval. The firm chooses which transaction codes to watch and who gets the alert. On an inventory of thirty open collection cases that is the difference between learning about a new assessment now and learning about it from the client after the levy. Practice-wide reports extend the same idea across the whole book: CAF Monitor, Collection Due Process Finder, First-Time Abatement Finder, Non-Filers, Upcoming CSEDs and a CSED mismatch report.

Transcripts still run on the firm's own CAF authorization and e-Services credentials, and IRS e-Services registration goes through ID.me, so the first-time setup is an IRS chore rather than a software one. IRS Solutions describes itself as an approved intermediate service provider connecting directly to the Transcript Delivery System, which is what lets the weekly monitoring run without somebody logging in each time.

The weak points are commercial and editorial. There is no free trial, only a 60-day money-back guarantee on a first annual membership, so evaluation means paying first. At $189 a month solo it is the most expensive per-seat entry point among the resolution-first tools here. The site does not publish a form count or say which forms beyond the collection set are supported, and it does not state whether the offer calculation applies the current IRS Collection Financial Standards automatically or requires allowable living expenses to be keyed by hand, which is worth asking on the demo. There is no tax preparation and no general practice management, so this is a second system alongside whatever the firm already runs.

PitBullTax undercuts it at $135 a month for a single unlimited-client user but charges $44 per user per month for transcripts, which closes most of the gap and lands the two within a few hundred dollars a year. Canopy is the choice only for firms already on that platform. Top-pick is where the evidence puts it: monitoring in the base price, a report set built by people working cases, published SOC 2 compliance with MFA required and AWS GovCloud hosting, and fifteen years of continuous development.
