The read

What Levvy does

Capacity is what Levvy leads with, and it is the part of the product that feels designed rather than assembled. The Brooklyn company builds practice management around who has room to take work: real-time capacity tracking, bulk reassignment when someone goes on leave, workload balancing across a team, and analytics that show where a bottleneck formed. Underneath that sit the usual pieces, a prebuilt workflow library plus a custom builder with task dependencies and approvals, automatic and manual time capture that flows into invoices, centralised client profiles, auto-generated client folders with role and team level permissions, and profitability and progress reporting.

The shape of the product points at client accounting services and bookkeeping teams rather than tax shops. Work that recurs monthly, gets staffed by whoever is free, and is billed on retainer or by the hour maps onto Levvy's model cleanly. The published case studies match that reading: a bookkeeping firm consolidating seven tools into one and cutting delays on ad hoc tasks, a tax and accounting practice replacing disconnected tools with capacity planning, and a business consulting firm. A high-volume 1040 practice will find nothing here shaped like a return.

Two gaps matter, and they matter more because of the price. Levvy starts at $59 per user per month annually, exactly level with Karbon's Team plan, and $79 for Whole Firm. At that price the missing pieces are conspicuous: the feature list describes no client portal and no e-signature, so document collection and 8879 signing happen somewhere else and get paid for separately. The integration list is six names, Gmail, Outlook, QuickBooks, Xero, Slack and Zapier, with no tax software at all, and Slack and Zapier are withheld from the Starter plan. The site states AICPA SOC 2 certification but does not say whether the report is Type 1 or Type 2, does not link it, and publishes no separate security page covering encryption, MFA or hosting, so a firm with a security questionnaire to satisfy will be asking for documents rather than downloading them.

Karbon is the direct comparison at the same seat price and answers most of those gaps: portal, mobile apps, e-signature with KBA as a paid add-on, and a long integration list including QuickBooks Online Accountant, Xero and several tax tools. Financial Cents costs less per seat and includes a portal with document requests. Levvy's genuine argument against both is capacity management, which it treats as a first-class feature rather than a report, and a workflow builder with real dependencies and approvals rather than sequential checklists.

One-to-watch is confirmed. Nothing found suggests the product is thin, but the evidence a firm would want before betting a busy season on it is not published: no founding date, no team or funding information, no customer count, no security detail beyond a single sentence, and three case studies without dates or firm sizes. Priced level with the category's established leader while shipping a shorter integration list and no portal, Levvy needs to be evaluated on the capacity story specifically. A CAS team that has outgrown spreadsheets for staffing should trial it. A firm that needs one system to hold documents, signatures and returns should not start here.
