The read
What CrossLink Professional does
Two things set CrossLink apart from the general-practice packages it sits beside in listings. The first is the pricing shape: $1,795 buys unlimited 1040, 1040-NR and 1040-SS returns with unlimited states, unlimited preparers, free conversions and a document archive, and business returns are a separate $999 module that requires an active 1040 license. The second is that the whole product assumes refund transfers are part of how the office makes money, with real-time e-file, multiple daily IRS submissions and direct integration with the bank partners that handle fee collection.
The feature set follows from that. Tax Vision Assist pulls data off driver's licenses, W-2s, 1099-K, 1099-R and SSA-1099 forms straight into the return, which is the bottleneck in an office running walk-in volume. TaxPass gives clients a mobile site for document upload, TextLink Plus puts SMS inside the software because that is how the client base actually communicates, and Remote Signature closes the return without a second visit. Both desktop and browser versions exist, and the franchise and service bureau tier adds a management dashboard and cobranding for multi-office operators.
That specificity is also the limit. This is not a package for a CPA firm doing complex partnership allocations, multi-state apportionment or trust work, and the business module reads as an accommodation rather than the main event. A firm whose revenue comes from advisory and entity compliance will find the whole design pointed somewhere else. Pricing also carries the line that additional fees apply when using the software, which in this corner of the market usually means per-return or per-bank-product charges that are not on the pricing page, so the published $1,795 is a floor rather than a total. Nothing on the site confirms SOC 2, and the depreciation and carryforward behavior of conversions is not documented.
Against TaxSlayer Pro and UltimateTax, which chase the same high-volume individual market, CrossLink is priced higher and leans harder on document automation and client messaging. Against Drake Tax, the comparison is not really fair in either direction: Drake covers every entity in one license and is the better general-practice buy, while CrossLink is built for throughput and bank product economics that Drake does not build its product around.
This profile moves the tier from dated to strong-option. The inherited rating did not survive the evidence: the vendor ships current-generation document extraction, an online as well as desktop version, integrated SMS, e-signature and a Zapier connector, which is not the profile of a stalled product. It is a strong option rather than a top pick because it wins on one narrow fit, the high-volume individual office, and because the real all-in cost is not published.

We could not confirm a SOC 2 report for CrossLink Professional from public sources. Ask the vendor directly before it touches client data — an absence here means unverified, not absent.

Beyond that: Zapier and bank refund transfer partners.
Our rating
Why we rate CrossLink Professional a Strong Option
CrossLink Professional is rated Strong Option, alongside 7 other of the 18 tax preparation tools in this directory.
A credible choice that wins on a specific fit rather than across the board — a price point, a niche, a workflow, or an integration the top picks do not cover as well.
