The read
What TaxFlow does
The origin story is the product spec. TaxFlow was built in 2020 inside an accounting firm whose own return tracking lived in a spreadsheet, and it does that one job: showing in real time where every return sits, who has it, and what is blocking it. Statuses and workflow templates are defined by the firm, work is assigned across preparers and reviewers, and an audit trail records each move. There is one plan, unlimited returns, unlimited clients and unlimited templates, at $30 per seat per month on an annual term or $39 month to month, with a fourteen-day trial and no contract.
That focus is the reason to consider it. A four-person office that has outgrown a shared Google Sheet but does not want to run a portal migration in January can be live on this in an afternoon, and the cost is roughly a tenth of what a full platform charges per seat. It suits firms that already have their document exchange, e-signature and billing arrangements settled and only need visibility over the return pipeline. It does not suit a firm looking to consolidate tools, because there is nothing to consolidate into.
The limits are considerable and should be treated as deliberate rather than temporary. No integrations are named anywhere on the site, which means no connection to Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte or ProSeries and no automatic status updates when a return is accepted. Nothing on the site describes a client portal, document storage, e-signature, time tracking or invoicing. There is no security page, no SOC 2 claim, no statement on encryption or MFA. The about page gives a founding year and a founding story but no headquarters, no team size and no ownership detail, and the homepage carries testimonials rather than a customer count. A firm that outgrows the board has to move to a different product, not a higher plan.
Jetpack Workflow is the nearest comparison and is also deliberately narrow, but it covers recurring bookkeeping work as well as tax and has been sold to US firms for far longer. Aero Workflow occupies similar ground with more mature templates. Financial Cents costs more per seat but adds a client portal, document requests and QuickBooks Online sync, which is the natural next purchase for a firm that finds TaxFlow's board useful and then wants everything else in one place.
The inherited tier was dated, and the evidence contradicts that. The site is current, the pricing page is live with two clearly stated tiers and a trial, and the product build date is recent. What the evidence also does not support is strong-option: there are no integrations, no published compliance posture, and no disclosure about the company beyond a 2020 founding date. One-to-watch is the honest reading. It is a competent, cheap, single-purpose tool from a vendor that has told prospective buyers very little about itself, and a firm should confirm data handling and support arrangements before entrusting a busy season to it.

Our rating
Why we rate TaxFlow a One to Watch
TaxFlow is rated One to Watch, alongside 11 other of the 49 practice management tools in this directory.
Early or unproven at firm scale. Often genuinely interesting technology without the track record, support depth, or install base to bet a busy season on yet.
