The read
What Accounting Power does
AccountantsWorld sells Accounting Power only to accountants, never to the businesses they serve, and every design decision follows from that. The firm owns the ledger. The client gets whatever slice of it the firm decides to hand over, configured function by function, which is the explicit answer to the problem of a client buying their own accounting software and then making a mess inside it. A professional layer sits on top of a full general ledger with banking, A/R, A/P, job costing and inventory, so the same system covers after-the-fact write-up for one client and live bookkeeping for another. Bank feeds pull card and bank activity to cut the keying, and a built-in bill payment module pays vendors across multiple clients with digital checks rather than a separate AP tool.
The fit is a small write-up or client accounting practice that wants control and a single price relationship, particularly one already running Payroll Relief for payroll. Firms whose clients insist on their own QuickBooks Online or Xero file will find the premise inverted against them, because Accounting Power has no published integration with either and no listed tax software integration at all. Nothing on the site suggests a path for a firm that wants to review books its clients keep themselves.
Where this falls down is upkeep. The blog's most recent post is dated March 2023 and the five entries above it run back into 2022. The security page names ISO 27001 and SAS 70 Type II audits and describes SSAE 16 for the underlying AWS infrastructure, standards retired in 2011 and 2017 respectively, and points to 128-bit SSL green-bar certificates from GoDaddy, a browser feature deprecated in 2019. It describes seven-character minimum passwords and does not mention multi-factor authentication or a SOC 2 report for AccountantsWorld's own service. There is no pricing page, no changelog, no customer list with dates. The site is branded entirely AccountantsWorld and makes no reference to any parent company, so ownership could not be confirmed from the vendor's own material.
Accounting CS is the direct comparison, the other write-up ledger sold to firms rather than businesses, and it is the heavier and better-integrated of the two, with real payroll compliance depth and the CS Professional Suite around it. Accounting Power is simpler and aimed at a smaller practice. Against putting clients on QuickBooks Online under a ProAdvisor account, the argument for Accounting Power is control and margin on write-up work, and the argument against is that clients already know QuickBooks and every other vendor integrates with it.
Dated is the right tier and the evidence for it is unusually clear. This is not a judgement about whether the software works, because for after-the-fact write-up it plainly does and long-tenured users say so. It is that the published record of investment stopped several years ago. A firm on it today has little reason to move in a hurry. A firm choosing today would be betting on a roadmap the vendor is not describing.

Our rating
Why we rate Accounting Power a Dated
Accounting Power is rated Dated: it is one of 8 of the 26 general ledger & bookkeeping tools here that still works but is no longer keeping pace.
Still sold and still working, but no longer keeping pace — thin investment, an aging interface, or a roadmap that has visibly stalled. Fine to stay on, hard to recommend adopting.
